Ian Calix: The Biggest Boy

Ian Cálix is a little boy of just three, whose gaze reflects tenderness, intelligence and great self-confidence. He attends the Vida Plena Program punctually, where he receives comprehensive care through daily feeding, emotional support, spiritual formation and early stimulation.

He arrived at the program when he was only five months old, carrying a deep pain that at his young age he could not express with words. The tragic disappearance of his mother, a 17-year-old girl, and the absence of his father, marked his first months of life. Days later, the loss of his grandfather aggravated his situation, reflected in prolonged episodes of crying,

anger and refusal to eat.

His low weight and height showed the urgent need for care and love. As time went by, Ian began to integrate into the program. Little by little he allowed himself to be hugged, receiving attention and stimulation for his age. The changes in this time have been radical. Today he is a happy child, full of energy and love, who enjoys being cared for and valued.

His eagerness to learn is remarkable. Every new concept is a great discovery for him. He

applies his analytical spirit in his games and conversations. When he learned the

concepts of big, medium and small, he had fun measuring himself against his classmates and, with a radiant smile, he exclaimed: "I am the biggest boy!"

His enthusiasm for helping has also led him to take on a special task with great responsibility. He is the official soap manager. Every day, at handwashing time, he happily runs to get the soap and is in charge of distributing it among his classmates, fulfilling his role with commitment and joy.

Ian's story is a living testimony of the power of love as a source of transformation in a life.
